Steinar Bragi (Guðmundsson) was born on August 15, 1975 in Reykjavík. He studied comparative literature and philosophy at the University of Iceland. His first published book was the poetry collection Svarthol (Blackhole) in 1998. Since then he has sent forward a number of poetry books as well as novels. His first novel Turninn (The Tower) came out in 2000, followed by Áhyggjudúkkur (Worrydolls) in 2002, garnering considerable critical acclaim. His latest novel, Konur (Women) was published in 2008, also to acclaim. The novel is now being translated to French and will be published by Métailié in 2009.
