Ágústína Jónsdóttir was born in Reykjavík on May 4th 1949. She studied cosmetics and then graduated as a pre-school teacher in 1976. She received her teaching diploma from the University College of Education in 1991. Ágústína works as an elementary school teacher in the Reykjavík suburb town of Kópavogur. Her first collection of poetry, Að baki mánans (Behind the Moon) was published in 1994 and since then she has written four other poetry collections. Ágústína is also a visual artist and she contributes to the graphic design of all of her books. One of her books was nominated for the DV newspaper's Literary Prize in 1997.
Ágústína Jónsdóttir lives in Reykjavík.
