An English translation of Kristín Ómarsdóttir's novel Hér (2004) has been published by Open Letter books, entitled Children in the Reindeer Woods. The translator is Lytton Smith. This is Kristín's first novel to be published in English translation and it has been well received, amongst others by the April issue of Kirkus Reviews and Helen Oyeyemi of The New York Times. Open Letter books has previously published Bragi Ólafsson's novels Gæludýrin (The Pets) and Sendiherrann (The Ambassador, also translated by Lytton Smith), and is slated to publish Sölvi Björn Sigurðsson's Síðustu dagar móður minnar (My Mother's Dying Days).
